RightStart Math Sale & Homeschool Updates

Homeschool friends: Now is a great time to score a new abacus -- and it's a cute one! Also, I thought I'd give you a little snapshot into other things we've been doing over the last little while! Being that it's freezing cold and everything has shut down again, we haven't really been on any field trips, but we've been making fun at home.

Wild Things: Owl Costume

So confession time: YEARS ago, my sweet sister gave me a copy of "Wild Things: funky little clothes to sew" by Kirsty Hartley, and while everything in it was so cute, I was absurdly nervous about trying a pattern that I couldn't find any reviews for. When my youngest was determined to be Hedwig the owl from Harry Potter for Halloween, I remembered that one of the dresses in Wild Things featured an owl tunic, so I decided to give it a whirl!

Looking Back at our 2020 Homeschool Year

Whew, I can't believe we're at the end of 2020 already! Unfortunately, like most other people, we spent most of the year at home and away from people. The kids... haven't loved it. There have been some bright spots though, and I hope with this last half of the school year, I can make it a bit more fun for them. So, what did we actually do this year?

Peony Patterns Daffodil & Wattle Mash Tutorial

It's time for another pattern mash! I've been seeing a lot of puff sleeves lately, and thought it would be cute to use the Peony Patterns Daffodil and Wattle to create this effect. I needed to sew up this beautiful organic cotton lycra plaid and ribbing from Wolf & Rabbit Fabrics and thought it would… Continue reading Peony Patterns Daffodil & Wattle Mash Tutorial

A Peony Christmas + New Embroidery Patterns!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! With just a few days before December 25, I finally got my girls' Christmas dresses finished! Not that they'll be going anywhere special in them, but it's still fun to dress up, even if we're stuck at home! I started out each dress with the embroidery -… Continue reading A Peony Christmas + New Embroidery Patterns!

Peony Patterns Wattle Dress {Release}

Last week I decided to test the new Peony Patterns Wattle Dress for my eldest. This is Peony's first knit dress pattern, and given how much my girls love a good knit dress, I know this one will get lots of wear! Oh, and did I mention the twirl on this one? She's definitely a… Continue reading Peony Patterns Wattle Dress {Release}

Wolf & Rabbit Fish & Stripes + Jalie Nico, Frederic & Henri

I've been a long time fan of Wolf & Rabbit Fabrics, and when I saw the latest preorder collection with puffins, fish, pandas, rainbows and more, I knew I had to sew some up! My son doesn't get a whole lot of sewing love, so I decided to make him the priority for this round of sewing! Thankfully he loved it and mostly cooperated for photos!

Peony Patterns Daisy Dress + Iris Embroidery

I'm back with another lovely dress from Peony Patterns! The Daisy Dress was included in Peony Patterns' first collection earlier this year, but I never had a chance to sew it up. Since I wanted to try another variation of the Iris hand embroidery, this was a great motivation to get Daisy made! About the… Continue reading Peony Patterns Daisy Dress + Iris Embroidery
