What are little girls made of, made of? What are little girls made of? Sugar and spice and everything nice; That's what little girls are made of. - Robert Southey, circa 1820 I tested the Everything Nice Dress by Duchess and Hare late last year, and in doing so made a fit muslin. I have… Continue reading Duchess & Hare Everything Nice Revisited
Yay for new pattern releases! For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been testing the Camilla top and dress from Simple Life Pattern Company. Camilla is adorable, and even though my 8 year old declared that hers made her look like a giant napkin (some of our table linens are in the same fabric, and my 4 year old Slytherin has intentionally been wiping her hands on her dress just to mess with her), she has actually been choosing to wear it! Phew!
Late last year my neighbor was getting rid of some fabric, and my eyes landed on some gorgeous floral scuba, gray double brushed poly, and a purple sweater knit. I thought this combo would be perfect as a dress and cardigan for my two girls!
For the last few weeks I've been testing the updated Emilya Pants from Simple Life Pattern Company. This is a cute fitted pant for woven fabrics with Simple Life's signature bow on the pockets and cute optional cuffs at the bottom.
After a bit of a co-vid induced sewing slump I'm again sewing all the things! Case in point: I've participated in three pattern tests in the last three weeks and starting today I'll be sharing the first of my projects with you! Whenever there's a Duchess and Hare test, I try to jump on it… Continue reading Duchess & Hare Loosey Goosey Dress Release & Rolled Hem Tutorial

The Jalie 2020 collection has landed!!!!!! 13 new patterns for you to sew! Here's my take on Bianca.
Just in time for Christmas, I made pajamas for my kids - because that is what us sewists are supposed to do at Christmas time, yes? ;-). And then, because my kids insisted on wearing them immediately and I failed to photograph them, they of course: wet the bed the first night, spilled breakfast on… Continue reading And then it was Pajama Day, Every Day.
My goodness, these last few weeks have been such a blur, I forgot to do a writeup on DC Frocktails! So, Frocktails! I wasn't entirely sure what this event would be all about but I knew I wanted to be part of it. I planned to jump on tickets as soon as they came available but then when I saw they were kinda pricey, I hesitated. And then when I finally decided to just get the tickets anyway, they had sold out! Thankfully I was able to get a ticket from the waitlist in early January.
It's new pattern time! Itch to Stitch launched the Tallinn Top and Dress today - this is a fitted knit top/dress with princess seams, center front seam, and options for a peplum, top, or dress. You'll need fabric with about 50% horizontal stretch and good recovery. I used Cotton Lycra for mine but you can use any jersey, double-brushed poly, ITY or French Terry.
