We've been homeschooling for 8 years now I guess -- if you consider that we are homeschooling our kids from when they are first born! Over the years I've tried various curriculum - some I've stuck with, some I've shelved. This coming year I'll have one in 3rd grade, one in 1st grade, and a preschooler. I'd like to say I've got this all figured out, but I'm far from it! The beauty of homeschooling of course, is if I decide something isn't for us, we can just change it. But I hope this is what we will stick with for the year!

But in the frustrations, there is joy and hope. Read more...
Earlier this year, RightStart added a fun new manipulative to their line-up - a wooden fraction puzzle. There are many different fraction puzzles on the market, but this is the first one I've found that has been all one color. And there's a reason for this!

It's summer! For many people this means school takes a back seat, so a fun way to keep kids engaged in math whether they're homeschooled or in traditional school is to have them do math games! Math games are a fantastic tool for building speed in math calculations - in fact, thanks to RightStart Math (the curriculum we use), my 5 year old homeschooled son can answer simple math problems faster than my public schooled 7 year old!
