Itch to Stitch Gothenburg Top {Release}

Because I clearly didn’t have enough things to do last week, I also found myself testing the new Gothenburg Top from Itch to Stitch. What can I say? I really love Itch to Stitch patterns so I try to prioritize their pattern tests!

The Gothenburg is a casual chic top with simple lines, designed for structured knit fabrics. The funnel neck is is designed to stand on its own and provide an interesting feature.

Gothenburg is pretty easy – with just 8 steps in all! My biggest challenge was deciding on the right fabric! You can use structured knits such as ponte, micro fleece, quilted jersey, ottoman rib and scuba with 25-35% stretch. In the end, I opted for some Nylon/Rayon/Lycra Ponte that I had leftover from Fabric Mart. (I really should have used this fabric as pants for me, but when I went and used it for my daughter’s pants instead, I wasn’t left with enough to make my own pants, so when hunting for the right fabric, I realized this would be the perfect use for it! I do love it when I can use things up!!).

The pattern comes in sizes 00 – 40 and includes cup sizes (A, B, C, D, DD, and sizes 22-40 omit A cup). It includes bust darts, long set-in sleeves (sewn on the flat) and a slightly dipped back hem.

I was in between measurements so I sized down — I used a 0 bust (A cup), 2 waist, and 4 hip. Since I intend to wear this as an outer garment rather than as a top by itself, I should have sized up instead. So, consider how you plan to wear yours when deciding on the size to make!

Overall though, a quick and easy sew! Do check out the Itch to Stitch tester roundup for even more inspiration!
