America's Independence Day is almost here, so to get in the spirit of things, I decided to make some patriotic outfits for each of my kids. Each of these sews is from an American designer too!
For the last few weeks I've been testing the updated Emilya Pants from Simple Life Pattern Company. This is a cute fitted pant for woven fabrics with Simple Life's signature bow on the pockets and cute optional cuffs at the bottom.
As I've mentioned before, my husband's first name means "dragon" so whenever I have the opportunity to sew up some dragon fabric, I usually jump on it! Affordable Fabrics & More sent me some dragon yardage, a coordinate and a panel this week, so it was a nice opportunity to finally make something for my son! I'm hoping this keeps him from feeling jealous of his sisters for at least a couple of weeks, haha! Read more...
MK*Designs recently sent me this adorable panel with Stitch dressed up as various Winnie the Pooh characters on a bee background. The panel was too big for my 3 year old so I decided to use it for my 7 year old instead. The A.A. I had been lusting over the Clover Shorts pattern* forever and when I got to test for Mouse House Creations* last year, this was one of the patterns I selected as compensation. It still took me over another year to finally get around to sewing it up! They are oh so cute, I just LOVE… Continue reading Mouse House Creations Clover Shorts
(Originally published on BurdaStyle May 31, 2014) I made these Oliver + S Sunny Day Shorts (a free pattern!) for my toddler this weekend. I customized the original pattern by adding pockets (from another Oliver+S pattern) and piping. I had never worked with piping before. The biggest challenge was hemming with the piping in place.… Continue reading Oliver + S Sunny Day Shorts
