The Jalie reveal continues! (If you missed my post yesterday, go check out the Jalie Bonnie Romper and all the details on Jalie’s latest collection!).
Jalie’s latest collection includes quite a few menswear patterns. Jalie Martin is a lounge pant and boxer short pattern, designed for boys and men (of course, it can be unisex too!). I had initially planned to sew this one up for my husband who is always wanting more pajama pants. But, my husband also only likes pj pants with a real fly, and since Jalie Martin has a faux fly, that wasn’t going to work for him. So, my 7 year old got them instead!
In addition to the faux fly, Jalie Martin has a back pocket, elastic waist, and no back seam. The lack of back seam is great for comfort, though it makes working with stripes or tartan a bit tricky. In our Jalie promo group, it was suggested to cut the back insert on the bias, and I had wanted to do that with mine, however I didn’t have enough fabric to pull that off.
Speaking of fabric, this one is leftover Robert Kaufman flannel from Minerva. It’s a WONDERFUL fabric and I’d love more of it for me! (I previously used this fabric to make lounge pants for my husband).
Jalie Martin comes in two size ranges – 2T – 2XL (paper and PDF) and 1XL – 5XL (pdf only).

Construction-wise, Martin is a fairly easy sew, though the back and side seaming makes it take a bit longer to construct than a single pattern piece pajama pant. This instructions are easy to follow though, and can be downloaded before purchasing.
