A new dress from Peony Patterns is available, and it’s gorgeous of course!! I also had the opportunity to partner with P&B Textiles, a quilting fabric company, and *spoiler alert* – I have another Peony outfit coming in the same fabric in just a few weeks!!!
**Also! Peony Patterns have reached 10K members in their Facebook Group, so to celebrate, there’s a competition with amazing prizes – including a Janome Sewing Machine! Join the Peony Patterns Facebook Group to learn more and get in the running!**
Maple is designed by Peony’s newest designer, Amanda Sargeant. Suitable for non-stretch woven fabric, it features cute tie straps, boat neckline, elastic waist, button back, circle skirt in various lengths, and optional ruffle trim or bias bound finish. This dress is also reversible! The bodice and elastic waist are fully enclosed, providing a professional finish inside and out. Maple is available in size 1-14 and the PDF download includes layers and projector files. Each size is accurately graded, so you can easily blend the sizes you need for a perfect fit.
My youngest is wearing a size 2.5 (I cut between the chest sizes 2 and 3), lengthened to size 4.5 (between the 4 and 5 sizes).
This is a beginner friendly pattern. You just need to take care when sewing the curved strap ties, and pay attention to how you tie them – if you tie them too high, the neckline will also be too high. My first photoshoot I had them tied too high, so fixed for the re-shoot! (A little bit of extra length was added to the straps for the final version of this pattern – this one I made was the first version of it).
For fabric, I used this gorgeous floral from P&B Textiles’ Arabesque collection. This is actually one of their 108″ backing fabrics, intended for use on the back of a king sized quilt. If your local quilt store carries P&B Textiles, ask them if they can get this one for you! It’s such a beautiful print! P&B also sent me some purple quilting cotton from their Suede collection (Color #299) but since I used it on the aforementioned soon-to-be-released pattern first, I didn’t quite have enough left for this one. So, I trekked out to my local quilt shop (Suzzies Quilt Shop in Manassas, VA) and picked up this purple print in the same color (series is called “Color Weave” but from what I can tell, it’s been discontinued).
And I asked Miss 5 what her favorite part of this dress was. She’s declared “all of it!!”, but when pressed, she says it’s the elastic waistband! I guess it’s a little different from everything else she has!
I hope you love this one as much as I do! Maple is on sale for release week (ends Sunday May 30, 2021 at midnight AEST).
Disclaimer: I received this pattern complimentary in exchange for testing it. I received the floral fabric free from P&B Textiles in exchange for promotion.
