My nine year old is SUPER excited about my latest sews – it’s been a long awaited day for her! She’s been pestering me *for months* about asking Miss Tash (owner of Peony Patterns) for dresses so her dolls can match her, and finally her wish has come true!
Peony Patterns Ivy, Wattle and Poppy dresses all have doll versions available now! These are in sizes 13″ (e.g., Minikane, Miniland), 15″ (e.g., Wellie Wishers) and 18″ (e.g., American Girl, Our Generation). After seeing all the tester dolls, I’m oh so tempted to get a Minikane – they’re such a gorgeous baby doll! (Some of the testers have gone nuts buying all the different babies!).
I tested the 18″ size for each style. I definitely need to make a few more of each – they’re a great stash buster for all those scraps and fat quarters you may have laying around!
Like all Peony Patterns, these patterns are all suitable for beginners, and they come with detailed tutorials. They’re all printable at home with Letter or A4 paper, or you can send the A0 versions to a printing shop or use your projector.
Ivy features spaghetti straps, and comes in top, dress, and maxi lengths. This is a super easy dress to make! If you like, you can also add a mini version of a Peony embroidery pattern onto the front bodice – I plan to do this for my next one. I used leftover fabric from making my eldest’s Ivy Dress so that they can match.
Poppy has optional ruffles on the bodice sides and comes in top and dress lengths (simple and tiered versions). You can also add embroidery to this one. I opted to use lace instead of gathering and hemming fabric for mine. This lace came from my grandmother’s lace stash – no idea what she had planned to do with it, but I have a bit left so I’ll plan to feature that in another dress for my girls at some point. I made this one with a couple of Cotton + Steel fat quarter quilting cottons that I had in my stash.
Wattle is a simple knit dress with slightly puffed sleeves and a boat neckline. The sleeves come in multiple lengths, and the skirt comes in regular or mini (I chose regular). This one also matches my daughter’s Wattle dress — I used some of the scraps to make this one!
Each of these doll dress patterns are on sale this week for a total steal of $3 each!!!! In addition, you can snag the matching girls sizes of Ivy, Poppy and Wattle on sale as well! Great time to stock up if you haven’t got these patterns yet!
