Christmas Pajama Time!

In this whirlwind of a weird year, it’s hard to believe Christmas is only 4 months away. Really. In the sewing world, that means it’s definitely time to plan NOW!

MK*Designs is one company I love sewing samples for – their fabric collections are always fun and vibrant, and the cotton lycra fabric base is smooth, easy to sew and comfy to wear. It has excellent recovery too.

MK*Designs’ latest collection features a whole bunch of holiday prints with original fan art inspired by Stitch, Gremlins, Toy Story, National Lampoon’s Vacation, the Grinch and Jack Skellington, along with MK’s super popular melted crayon prints.

This collection is available for preorder until August 30, 2020 and should arrive to customers about 8-12 weeks after that.

For this project, I received a fat half of Gremlin Holiday plus one coordinating panel from the Gremlin Holiday big kid panel set. While I received this on Cotton Lycra, it’s also available on poplin, stretch French terry, and as a separate preorder for yoga, swim, minky, fluff, and bamboo Lycra.

About the Pattern

For many people in the northern hemisphere, holidays and pajamas go together like peanut butter and jelly! So naturally, I decided to pair this fabric with the new Jalie Jeanne pyjamas. This pattern includes a long sleeved knit top and long leggings style pants with banded cuffs. Jeanne is a super fast sew and will work perfectly for most of your family! It’s sized from 2T – 2XL for children (boys and girls) and women, all in one pattern.

For my son, I went with this measurements for the pants (2T hip, 6 length) and sized up for the top (3T chest, 6 length). In hindsight, I should have sized the pants up to 3T as they are a bit too snug for him.

(my son’s turtle collection follows him everywhere!)

I think I’ll make a bunch more pajamas using this pattern – my four year old is asking for Christmas owl pajamas now!

Be sure to join the MK*Designs Facebook group to stay on top of future preorders and get more inspiration!
