I love that Right Start Math have been publishing some of their games on their blog this winter! As we get stuck inside on cold days, it’s nice to have some inspiration on keeping the kids having fun learning indoors!
RightStart have the following games on their blog along with videos:
- Remainder Hearts (division)
- Crazy Squares (multiplication facts)
- Corners (math facts, strategy)
- Difference War (subtraction)
My kids are almost done with their current levels so I’ve bought them special prizes for finishing (Lego watches – shh!). My son (6/K) is about 4 lessons away from completing Level A, and my daughter (8/2nd) has about 30 lessons left in Level B (I’m doing what I can to get 2-4 lessons done a day so that we can finish it up in the next 4 weeks and then we can finally move to Level C – Huzzah!).
It’s been especially nice with Level A as the last 30 or so lessons include a lot of fun ones – measuring water, solid wood objects, weighing liquids (my favorite was using the math balance to weigh a container of oil on one side and water on the other – seeing the kids’ jaws drop as the water clunked down – instead of the oil as they had hypothesized – was priceless!).
