It’s January, which means it’s definitely time I made more use of my gym membership! But in the meantime, instead of making more workout outfits for me, I made them for my daughter instead.
Mine are… coming 😛
I picked up the Boo! Designs Dynamite Athleticwear pattern back in the summer and actually got these sewn up in October… but completely spaced on posting them up to my blog!
I personally failed a little on this pattern to be honest. I adore the back, but I foolishly thought I could size up for the chest because it wasn’t a swimsuit after all. And I might have stretched the fabric a little as I sewed the binding too. Lessons learned for next time!
Don’t be like me. Don’t size up. Use your model’s current size for this top!
Even though it isn’t the greatest back, she does adore it and wears it whenever she goes rock climbing at our gym. And bonus: I turned up to her rock climbing class a couple of weeks ago and was sought out by one of the instructors who was so stunned that I made her gym clothes, calling them “bolla awesome”.
So basically, I’ve made it.
I’m a cool mom!
Anyway, the pattern itself comes with tank, crop top (both with multiple back styles), and various leggings options. It’s sized from 2T – 14 and available as a downloadable PDF pattern.
The fabric is just gorgeous! It’s part of the athleticwear collection at Affordable Fabrics and More. I don’t know about you, but I had NO IDEA they carried non-custom activewear fabrics! These fabrics are perfect for making leggings and tank tops, are moisture wicking, buttery soft, and made from a combo of polyester/lycra. AFAM carry a pretty big collection of solids and striated yoga knits.
