The new Itch to Stitch Cape Cod Capelet (try saying that 10 times fast!) is available now and is a perfect quick sew AND gift for the holiday season!

I tested this garment last week, and it is seriously the fastest pattern test I think I’ve been on! You could really cut and sew this one in under an hour!
Cape Cod Capelet is a roomy, raglan sleeved cape with cowl neck and high-low hem. It can be made in various sweater knits or even laces. I made my first one from a Hacci sweater knit (poly/lycra) and my second from a brushed sweater knit. I love them both so much!

The pattern is just 4 pattern pieces (back, front, sleeve, neckband) and is a perfect project for beginners – and anyone else on a time crunch!

Cape Cod Capelet is available in sizes XXS (Bust 32.5in / 82.5cm) up to XL (Bust 48in / 122cm). It can easily be shortened or lengthened. I sewed a XXS with an extra 1″ length. Note: The final version of this pattern has an extra 2″ added at the front only.
Most of the construction for this garment was done on my serger, with the sleeves stitched together on my sewing machine, and hemming on my coverstitch. Kennis (the designer) includes tips for sewing on just a sewing machine if you don’t have the other machines in your arsenal.
One thing to note, is if you’re using a coverstitch machine on your hem, you’ll want your looper thread to blend with the fabric, as the underside can be visible if the hem flips up or you put your arms in the air.
I just love my new capelets and can’t wait to wear them all fall!
