Affordable Fabrics and More has done it again with another gorgeous fabric collection! For this one, I used the Lottchen Top/Tunic/Dress by German designer, Pea aus Schilde and I just love how it turned out! Read on to learn more about this outfit!
It took me *ages* to decide how I wanted to use this fabric. I think mostly because we were getting freezing cold weather *including snow forecasts!* and so, thinking about something summery was quite a challenge!
I received the Under the Sea panel and a fat half of the coordinate from Affordable Fabrics and More. This fabric is digitally printed on cotton lycra blend (95% cotton, 5% Lycra) and is 220-260gsm. This is a preorder fabric, and should arrive to customers middle-end January. The panel measures approximately 16×19 inches.
This preorder closes Monday, November 26, 2018.
For the accents, I used stripes from Purple Seamstress, solid mint cotton Lycra from Simply By Ti, and some lace from hobby Lobby. I paired this outfit with leggings I made earlier in the year with fabric from Mabel Madison.
About the Pattern
The Lottchen by Pea aus Schilde comes in top, tunic and dress length in sizes 74-152 (these refer to heights in centremetres). It comes with a box pleat at the front where you can put an accent fabric. The back does not have a pleat, but the instructions tell you how you can add one in. There are multiple sleeve styles (flutter, puffy, regular, banded) and additional lengths are available in a separate pattern. The bodice is designed for knits, but the skirt can be made in either knit or woven fabrics. The pattern is all in German, but can easily be translated into English using an online translator tool or phone app.
Seam allowances are not included in this pattern, and for those children who are tall and skinny, it suggests using the correct pattern for height and omitting the side seam allowances.
Note that to print this pattern in the USA, you will need either A4 or Legal sized paper.
Because I was limited to the length of the panel, I cut this slightly shorter than tunic length and used a rolled hem on my serger to make a lettuce edge.
