The Tilt!

The Tilt by kleiner Polli-Klecks was selected among the top 5 favorite patterns to sew in the International Knit Sew Along Facebook group this summer. I’d purchased it during one of the Makerist 2€ sales earlier in the year and thought it would be a prefect way to showcase this new collection of prints and stripes from a new to me company, Wolf & Rabbit Fabrics.

Wolf and Rabbit Fabrics are designed and manufactured in the USA.  Their custom printed fabric collections mostly have a watercolor vibe that I’m obsessed with! They sent me some samples from their new collection so that I could show them off to you! You can preorder them until 9/24 and they have a 2-3 week turnaround.

The appliqué is also from Wolf and Rabbit and will be available for retail on 9/28. It’s made from cotton lycra and arrived pre-cut with iron on adhesive on the back. I attached it first with my iron, and then used a blanket stitch on my sewing machine, and stabilized the surface by putting a sheet of tracing paper (medical exam paper) between the feed dogs and fabric. I thought about attaching buttons to the eyes but thought that might look a bit creepy!

One of my son’s favorite toys is his bunny, so he was super excited to have this shirt! He kept staring lovingly at this applique as he wore it <3.

The Tilt was actually really fun to sew and pretty straightforward too. I didn’t need to do much translation (it’s all in German) since the diagrams in the drawing were easy to understand. Seam allowances are included (woo hoo!), the hood is optional, it can be made as a dress with an elastic waistband, and you can purchase the sleeves separately. There’s also a file with inspiration and ideas for individualizing your Tilt.

Most international PDF patterns don’t include sizing charts, so I usually pull out my Ottobre’s to work out which size to use. Initially I traced the pattern using Ottobre as my size guide (110 long, 98 wide) but then I realized there was actually a size chart included and my son fell completely in the 110 size range. I made a straight size 110 and it fits him perfectly.

I definitely see more Tilts in my future!
