A Flounce for Boo! Designs Swimmers!

Two trends I’m seeing in swimsuits lately are flounces and high waisted bottoms. Miss 6 recently declared she HAD to have a bikini. (Cue Daddy’s immediate “NO!” haha).

I decided that if I made her a bikini, I’d make it fairly modest, so enter: flounces and high waisted bottoms!

Boo! Designs recently released a new Flounce Dress*, which actually coordinates perfectly with both the Spandex Skater Dress* and the Swimmers* patterns.

To make this mashup, I used the size 4 (chest measurement) Flounce Dress bodice with no extra length. I used the Boo Swimmers’ Classic Bottoms and added 2 inches to the top of the back and front. In hindsight I should have added about 2.5 – 3 inches though, because it hits right at her belly button which bugs her a lot. (Well, that and she wants them at their regular height *well* below the belly button!)

I also added a bow to the front and back of the suit using this Spandex Bow Tutorial on the Boo! blog*.

This beautiful fabric is now available at Whimsy Baby Customs! With one meter (39″ x 60″) of fabric, you get a fat half of stripes and a fat half of ice cream unicorns. The stripes actually have orange and yellow in them too, and I want to use them for everything! They are so pretty!!

Whimsy Baby Customs ships this swim fabric from the US and Canada, so you’ll get a great price on shipping no matter which side of the border you’re on! But be warned… all of their fabric is beautiful, so lots of extra things might end up in your shopping cart after you visit their site! Join the Whimsy Baby Customs Facebook Group to stay in the loop with new products!
