MerKitty Baby Swimmers!

Now for some cuteness for the baby! Ok, fine, “the toddler.” She’s still my baby though 🙂 🙂 🙂

With my leftover MK*Designs Glam Merkitties and Glam Scales, I wanted to make a rashguard and bottoms for my littlest. She just adores modeling them! Actually, she’s fun to photograph because she just adores modeling, period! But only for me. If anyone else tries to take her photo she just glares at them!!!

I used the Boo! Designs Baby Swimmers* and hacked the bottoms to include the ruffle. I’m not overly happy with how the ruffle on these turned out – without a side seam, you can’t hide the edge of the ruffle in – so if your plan is to do the butt ruffle rather than a full skirt, you’ll need to plan ahead by cutting the pattern piece in half and adding seam allowance so your ruffle can be hidden in the seam. The alternative is to make a skirt that goes all the way around (which I think is what I did last time I made this pattern) but I didn’t have enough fabric left to pull that off!

Baby girl is actually going to be wearing this pattern for a while yet! She measured size 12 months for her bottoms and 12M lengthened to 18M for her top. The bottoms would also be perfect for a pair of training undies too – something I might whip up for her soon!

Anyway, she adores it and certainly rocks it!

The preorder for this swim fabric closes tomorrow – Friday March 16, 2018. So, if you’d like to make a suit for your girls (or you) this summer — or a dress! — then don’t miss it!

And by a nice stroke of luck, this worked out as my finally-not-rogue entry for Week 10 of the 52 Week Sewing Challenge!

I’m a strike-off seamstress for MK*Designs and received a complimentary fat half of each of these fabrics for purposes for promotion.
