Itch to Stitch Lago Tank Release

I rarely sew quick things, so when I saw Itch to Stitch* doing a tester call for the new (and FREE!) Lago Tank,* I figured it would be a great way to get some quick sewing done for me!

The Lago Tank has a relaxed fit, arm and neck bands, a comfortable scoop neck, and is hip length. The back of the tank is slightly racer-back like, so you may wish to wear a bra strap holder* underneath.

For this tank, I used a beautiful cobalt rayon lycra from Simply By Ti – she provided me with a free yard in exchange for a shoutout here :-). Because I used rayon, the bands are actually a bit too lose in this tank and I didn’t feel like unpicking my serger threads to fix it. Sooo, I made another one, also using rayon lycra from Simply By Ti! For my second one, I shortened the bands by calculating 85% of the opening measurements. Hopefully I’ll get some photos of my second version this weekend so I can share with you! If you make this top with something sturdier like cotton-Lycra however, you probably won’t need to make adjustments to the bands.

As usual, this pattern includes great instructions for blending sizes to get the perfect fitting top. Using my measurements, I made mine with size 0 at the bust and waist, and blended to size 4 at the hip. I lengthened mine by 1.5 inches.

You can probably make your first one of these tops in under an hour, with your subsequent ones being much faster! It’s a great way to use up any 1 yard cuts of knit fabric that you have in your collection ;-).

I definitely need to make more of these before summer hits! Go pick up your free copy of the Lago Tank today and get yourself ready for summer – PLUS get 20% off all the rest of her patterns through Monday May 15! And you can check out all the Lago Tank tester photos over here! Also, be sure to join the Itch to Stitch Facebook Group to stay in the loop on sales, new releases, inspiration, and get assistance with any of your Itch to Stitch projects!

(Finally, here’s a fun photo to leave you with 😉 …)

  1. This is a very nice tank! I ‘purchased” the pattern as well, together with some other patterns! I recently discovered Itch To Stitch, while I was searching for patterns for pants and shorts for a blogpost about that, and loved the patterns she designs! I will definitely make one like these myself 😉 Love the color as well, looks great on you too!

    1. I’ve been so impressed with this pattern designer! I really feel like I can confidently sew for myself using her patterns as I can consistently make the same adjustments (height, grading out the hip) and get great results! Testing for her has certainly helped me get over my road block of not sewing for myself 🙂

      1. That’s good to know as well! I must say I also haven’t read any bad review of her patterns, so I was pleased to discover them! Still need to make my first one though, hopefully I’ll get there soon 😉 And good that you are sewing more for yourself! I find that very rewarding if I succeed in making something that fits me well, although it is always a little more difficult than sewing for kids, without curves and everything that makes it a little more complicated 😉
