Serger Box Bag

First published on Burdastyle, 1/1/2016

I made this bag for a friend based on the instructions in the Craftsy.com class, “beginner serging” by Amy Alan*. It was mostly constructed with my serger – I did do a little basting with my sewing machine where the zipper meets the zipper tab/side — no matter how I tried, I couldn’t get it to stay in the right place without being basted!

Since I didn’t have any fusible fleece, I instead fused SF101 to the exterior piece, and then used basting spray to attach sweater fleece. This seemed to work really well at ensuring good structure.

Overall it was pretty easy to do, and a great way to use up fat quarters!
