Since my husband’s name means “dragon” in Chinese, I decided that in honor of her daddy, I would dress my baby up as a pink dragon for her first Halloween :). The pattern is McCalls M6185. I found the size runs rather large. I omitted the fusible fleece in the spikes, and didn’t do the gloves. Some of the sewing instructions took a bit of time to figure out, and there are a lot of pieces to cut out, so keep that in mind if you take on this pattern!

(10/18/18 – Edit: this costume has been used for YEARS in our home and it’s even been loaned out a bunch of times!! I definitely got my mileage out of this one! – also, the hood is supposed to be tucked inside the body of the suit. We realized that *after* photos were taken, of course!)
Material Notes
Outer: pink polkadot fleece (JoAnn)
Lining & contrast: felt
Notions: elastic, velcro

I’m Natasha (Nat) and I’m an Australian girl who grew up in Hobart, Tasmania and moved to Northern Virginia, USA in 2005. When I was a kid, my grandmother taught me how to hand embroider, and later, between seventh grade home ec. lessons, my mother, and a lot of trial and error, I learned to machine sew too.
I mostly sew children’s wear but I'm also trying to make more of an effort to sew for me!
